
Heather Talton
Heather was a volunteer with Agape Ranch 2002 until accepting the
position as director in 2006 and brings a wealth of experience and
knowledge to the director’s position.
Heather Talton is a teacher, volunteer, and advocate whose ministry is dedicated to teaching God’s love to individuals with special needs and assisting them in becoming independent, contributing citizens in their
community. Currently, Heather teaches severe and profound special
education through the early intervention program in the Lumpkin County
School System. Previously, Heather taught mild to moderate special
education at Gainesville City Middle School.
Heather, who holds a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education from Piedmont
College, has been involved in the lives of individuals with special
needs ranging in age from toddlers to senior adults as well as their
caregivers. She has been a volunteer at Georgia Mountain Community
Services in Habersham County and has served on the Board of the
People First Advocacy Group.
Heather is a member of Concord Baptist Church in Clermont where she has
set in place the JOY Ministry, which provides care and support for
individuals with special needs during Sunday School classes. She also
volunteers with the JOY Ministry Respite Care at Lakewood Baptist Church
in Gainesville.
Heather and her loving husband, Pete, were married in February, 2005.
They have committed their hearts to Agape Ranch. Heather plans to
continue what the Leaheys have started, growing the camp and creating an
opportunity for all involved.
